I went to DrCostello at such a desperate time. I had never sought help or medications before. He was so detached, cold and couldn’t care less. I most definitely never felt heard. He actually said to me, “you act like nothing bad has ever happened to you before.” I was heartbroken and never went back.
This place is a joke. I called to schedule an appointment, letting them know I was calling multiple places to try and get the soonest appointment possible (everywhere was booked months out). They told me they charged $50 for some sort of intake test you had to take, but that I wouldn't be charged until AFTER I took the test. I made the appointment and the next day I was charged the $50. When I called to cancel my appointment a few weeks later, I asked for a refund and, to their credit, they gave it to me without any push back. Then a few days later I got a bill in the mail for $50 from them. I called back and hit the option for billing. I got a voicemail and left a message. This continued for 4 days of my calling multiple times a day and leaving messages with the billing department. I finally decided to select the option for appointment scheduling to see if they could help me and I was told that "The billing person left and you can just hit the option for new patient scheduling if you need to discuss a bill." WHAT? Update the options in your phone tree then? Or check the messages that are left for the billing department? So I asked about the bill and they said they had no idea why I received a bill and to just ignore it. All this, just trying to schedule an appointment. I didn't even see the Dr. I also didn't do my due diligence before making an appointment, but do yourself a favor and look up what TMS treatment entails. It's basically a pseudoscience and probably does nothing to help people. That one I'll leave to your discretion. I do not recommend this establishment.
Dr. Costello puts his nurse practitioner staff in contracts that disallow them to treat “Costello Clinic patients” for 12 months if they leave. This is in no way apparent. I brought my daughter to this clinic FOR a particular NP, not for the clinic, and certainly not for Dr. Costello. Dr. Costello insists that our inability to keep my daughter’s continued care with her known and safe provider is an “ethical business practice” and entirely the fault of the NP for leaving. Dr. Costello made sure I knew “this a FOR PROFIT business”, which I am quite aware of, given the more than $50K paid on my family’s behalf to fill his coffers. Also know that Dr. Costello almost entirely only sees new patients for a single intake appointment. The NPs take it from there. My daughter saw him a single time, and she has never been his patient, not to us, nor does she “belong” to the clinic. No one ever answers the phone, and I have run out of medications at least 4 times this year due to inability to contact anyone and have driven to the clinic numerous times (1 hour away) because I need to talk to someone. It recently took me over 6 weeks to get one prior authorization through - with my consistent monitoring and follow-up. Just last week, I left messages Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before finally getting through to someone. The internet frequently fails, which also knocks out the phones. I have tried FOR A YEAR to use their telehealth platform, and it has never worked, not once. No one will follow it through and get it fixed. TMS is considered “the moneymaker” at this office, so beware when it is tossed at you right off the bat. This clinic used to be worth something. Now it is absolutely money-obsessed, largely unavailable, and seemingly falling apart.
Initial appt is with Dr. Costello, all following appointments are with his PA. My initial appt was very rushed, I did not feel heard. I had said my current meds weren't work so he just raised the dosage and told me to try TMS therapy. Said his TMS coordinator would be calling me. Well she did, an entire month after the appointment. When I told her I could not do TMS with them due to my work schedule her tone changed and she asked if I could just leave work early. I haven't seen the PA yet, but I'm thinking I'm gonna cancel and find a new Dr, I have not been impressed at all. Not to mention, I paid my bill with them but they're saying I still owe them money so I had to mail them proof it was paid. And I never got my script filled from them because there was a problem with it that they never fixed! Despite me AND the pharmacy letting them know. The only good thing about this office I have found in my brief experience with them is the front office receptionist lady, she was wonderful, sweet, and kind. I really liked her. It's shame she's the only good I found in that office.
I wish I could leave a better review. Dr. Costello was pleasant enough, but the fact that I was supposed to have medications called in over a week ago is completely unacceptable. No one ever answers the phone, returns voice mails, or emails to try and resolve. I couldn’t imagine running a business this way. I will be searching for care elsewhere.
